Review highlights

Based on 371 reviews

Reviews of Tomoemaru consistently highlight its specialty in Takachiho beef and chicken dishes, praised for their tenderness, rich flavors, and expertly grilled quality. The restaurant is noted for generous portion sizes, particularly in their set meals, and the inclusion of well-prepared sides such as miso soup, pickles, and homemade sauces. Customers appreciate the welcoming and accommodating service, with some remarks on the establishment’s popularity leading to long waiting times, especially during peak hours. While prices are regarded as reasonable for the quality and experience, some find them slightly on the higher side for lunch sets. Great Takashiho beef rice bowl here is so great. Takashiho chicken charcoal grill is very yummy. After shopping in tax free shop, you can enjoy your stomach with your friends and family.

We had the beef rice set. The beef was so tender it was just fantastic! The guys were friendly and let us sit until 7pm. A great restaurant and I would highly recommend it...

Approaching midday, the line had already extended significantly, even though we had to endure the intense sun in Jul 2023. We had the Chicken Nanban set, which came with a delightful homemade tartar sauce, and also chose the Chicken Nanban udon bowl, also accompanied by the same flavorful homemade tartar sauce. The portions were impressively generous, with the chicken boasting delectable flavors that were intensified by the ample serving of homemade tartar sauce. I assumed that by ordering the udon bowl, it would replace the rice, but to my surprise, the udon was presented as a standalone side dish, while the rice formed the foundation beneath the chicken. This meal might have been a carbohydrate overload, but its worth the calories!

Surprisingly delicious and ultra tender thin-sliced beef over rice. You can tell their grill has seen some actions over the years, the bbq flavour comes through deep and made this some of the best meat we have had in 3 weeks travelling across Shikoku and Kyushu islands in South west Japan. 2500 yen per person for set lunch (the obligatory miso soup and pickles plus a small side salad) was a bit steep pricing-wise but nowhere near a rip off for what was ultimately some quality ingredients cooked well

This is a very popular restaurant. We arrived at close to 1pm and there was already a line of about 6-7 groups in front of us. You are given numbers and the tables turn fast so the wait was not too bad. We ordered the fried oyster setカキ焼き定食, a beef croquette and a charcoal grilled chicken set 宮崎鶏炭火焼き定食. The oysters and the croquette were really done well and delicious. The charcoal grilled chicken is a local specialty. It was our first time trying this dish so we have no basis for comparison, but it was not to our liking. We thought the chicken was too salty and the taste of charcoal was a bit strong for us. The service was fast , the staff friendly and we did enjoy the other dishes a lot.

Small restaurant, we all order the specialty and were pleased with it, the sauce on the fried chicken is very good, the meat too, the croquette too. and best of all, the quantity is more than enough. Only issue here, the service is rather slow.

We stumbled upon this as we couldn't find the Japanese pancake restaurant which was supposed to be nearby. Am so glad we did! The beef bowl was very tasty; the beef was so tender. We also had the chicken nanban and beef croquet. The croquet was ok but the chicken was delicious. Crispy yet juicy. The owner was friendly and even ran after our car as my partner left his phone behind! Luckily we were just driving across the road to visit the Shrine. We didn't have to wait to be seated, maybe because mid December is low season? Or we were just lucky!
